Filled with character portraits sharing stories of determined, sold-out living, Zach Hunter's Lose Your Cool offers teenagers fuel to move on making a difference in their world. Knowing that Hunter is also a teenager, one who has taken his own advice and is serious about living for God's purpose in his life, makes Lose Your Cool a natural choice to help challenge your students to 'go and do likewise.'
While Hunter's first two books - Generation Change and Be The Change - focused on his passionate pursuit to end modern day slavery and raise awareness of the injustice of human trafficking, Lose Your Cool most clearly seeks to motivate readers to discern and act on whatever opportunities God provides, leaning on God for guidance and strength to get there.
Lose Your Cool is a good read for a middle or high school student who wants to know how to take the next steps in personally making a difference in the world. Although not technically a curriculum, it is also a good resource option for use in small groups, mid-week or Sunday morning classes successfully, which is how I'm using it. With chapters that are only a few pages long followed by discussion questions and supporting material from the Bible, plus videos and additional resources on the book's website www.loseyourcoolbook.com, the book gives a solid core for our discussion time together with a reasonable amount of outside preparation.
