Stuff to do in Pittsburgh

This weekend thousands of youth workers will pour into Pittsburgh for the National Youth Workers Convention. With all of those people coming from out-of-town I asked Pittsburgh area resident and fellow youth worker Paul Charles to put together a list of places to go and things to see within walking distance of the convention center.
Eating
Within about a 10 minute walk, you can find several fast food places like McDonalds, Arby’s, Subway, and Quizno’s. There are other delis, sandwich shops, and pizza places within this radius as well. If you are looking for something a little different, these are the ones I recommend:
Primanti’s – famous Pittsburgh sandwiches

- Location: 46 18th Street | Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (about ½ mile from the convention center)
- Prices: under $10 (very reasonable for downtown)
- Additional info: this location is open 24 hours
Spaghetti Warehouse
- Location: 2601 Smallman Street | Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (1 mile from the convention center)
- Prices: lunches around $10, dinners $10-$15
Sushi Kim Korean/Japanese
- Location: 1241 Penn Avenue | Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (2 blocks from the convention center)
- Prices: lunches $8-$12, dinners $10-$25
Coffee Houses
Cool Beans Coffee Company
- Liberty Center, 1001 Liberty Avenue (about a block away)
- One Mellon Center, 707 Grant Street (about 5 minute walk)
Juno’s Coffee House
- 129 6th Street (about 10 minute walk)
Oasis Gourmet Coffee
- 648 William Penn Place (about 5 minute walk)
Starbucks Coffee (all about a 10-15 minute walk)

Fun Stuff
Station Square
- Location: 125 West Station Square Drive | Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (2 miles from the conv. center)
- Gateway Clipper boat rides
- Lots of eating/shopping/entertainment establishments
- Would need to drive or take the light rail to get there, but a nice place to “get away”
Strip District
- Do not be fooled by the name. This area has many eating/shopping establishments.
- Located a few blocks from the convention center
Pittsburgh History Museum
- Location: 1212 Smallman Street | Pittsburgh, PA 15222 (2 blocks from the convention center)
- Contains the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum
- Admission: $9.00
