Open Space at NYWC

By Tash McGill on August 29 2009

If you’re like me, coming to National Youth Workers Convention usually means gathering with lots of other youthworkers and learning exciting new stuff to take home. So, Open Space Saturday at NYWC is probably one of the more exciting things I’ve worked on in a while.

Youth workers and leaders like you and I, are wrestling with what comes next in youth ministry, and how best to navigate our way through some of the pressing issues we are facing. One thing I’m sure of, the conversations we’re already having in our local spaces, our regional groups and digital communities are the places we’re discovering answers, better questions and more answers.

So, we’re creating space for the diverse community of youth workers gathered at NYWC to discuss, engage and problem solve on those issues and create usable, effective ideas from our collective insight, experience and understanding. Because we can find our way forward to new, hopeful, practical horizons. Regardless of whether you’ve been in youth ministry for fifteen years, five months or five minutes, your voice is equally necessary and important.

Open Space is a birthplace – a platform for new and original thought, breakthrough ideas and new resource opportunities – voices we haven’t heard, challenging and insightful methods to be shared. We expect that important new ideas around ministry will emerge, as well as crucial conversations and voices.

Hopefully, you can find a way to be part of this gathering point as we bring the conversation together. Check out Open Space and how successful it’s been in helping communities like ours to bringing inspiring and effective new ideas into reality.

Also – remember to register now for NYWC in the city closest to you! I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
