This floored me. It represented the hope we heard all over the city for the future of the Haitian people. Somehow they know that immediate relief aid is only part of the problem. This young man knew that to truly change his life he needed to lay a solid foundation of education.

Thanks for sharing these stories! It is so important that people hear what is happening and understand that people are people everywhere. I was actually in Haiti on a mission trip during the earthquake and so I know what you are experiencing as you are there. Every day I pray for people like you who have gone there to tell the Haitian’s stories and who are trying to help. God bless you. God bless Haiti.

It’s so overwhelming to hear about all of this. And difficult to imagine the chaos, but what tugs at me is that few people had this sort of interaction. Millions of more that need help, want to move forward and it seems so hard to change all those lives. But in spite of it all I know each time someone reaches out, as here, it’s a life changed.

Wow. What incredible faith demonstrated by those who have nothing… but God. What an example for those of us with so much… but so poor in this kind of faith. Great story, Adam. Thanks for telling it.

Yes, Adam. Thanks for sharing these incredibly moving and important stories. It helps us to put a face on this tragedy.
Our students raised a couple hundred dollars in the last two weeks for an orphanage in Jacmel, Haiti. Our district is working together to raise ~$25,000 to help them rebuild. Here’s the post with a few pics and video: http://www.elevationgeneration.org/blog/2010/01/help-us-repair-the-faith-orphanage-in-haiti .
Much love from the Midwest.

A bit of an update on my comment above. Our district, with the help of others, were able to raise the $25,000 goal needed to rebuild the Faith Orphanage in Haiti! Much celebration upon hearing the great news! :D
I’m gonna use this story, along with a few others from friends, to share with students tonight. I want them engaging with what’s happening over there. Thanks again!
