There’s no choice here that fits me. What about the option, “I’ve never done this and don’t plan to”?
From Adam McLane on August 19, 2010
@laura- I added a simple “no” option. There are a lot of no variables, I guess. We’ll just lump em all under no.
From Mark Smith on August 20, 2010
I was looking for the choice “This is an unreasonable invasion of the separation of church and state”, but I’ll accept Laura’s answer. :-)

Who are you people and why do you bother making such unreasonable and negative comments?! Just don’t even click the link for crying out loud! And read some history and get a clue what “separation of church and state” is all about! MAN!!! We’ll pray for your schools and student ministries while were at it.

Thanks for the update! I didn’t mean to sound negative, but I can see that came out a little harsh-sounding. Mostly I hope we can see that there are a range of faithful responses, including not participating.
From Doug on September 20, 2010
I do not participate because I believe it violates scripture.
Matthew 6:1
Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
From Bradley on September 20, 2010
So, Doug, do you never pray in front of anyone, at meals, with your spouse, with your kids before bed, at church? Or are you just implying that we are doing it, “to be seen by them”?
We are not standing at the pole, praying in a loud voice, “Oh God, We thank you that we are not like these other men…”. (Luke 18) There were two men who went to the temple to pray that day. One went home justified before God. He obviously wasn’t violating scripture. So, maybe it is the intent of the prayer not the location.
I think some of you are trying much harder to find excuses not to pray, rather than taking advantage of every opportunity to pray for others. Our schools and students and teachers and administration and cities and government and world NEED prayer!
We’ll pray for your schools and student ministries while were at it too.
From Doug on September 21, 2010
The event is called SEE you at the Pole. That seems to be a pretty obvious intent. I would be in favor of praying for ALL schools and studnets at the temple; not to spite you, but because I care and believe in the power of prayer. Why at the pole and not at the church?
From Bradley on September 22, 2010
Yes, i’ts SEE you at the Pole, as in: I’ll SEE YOU at the pole when we go there to pray. Not LOOK AT ME praying at the pole.
Who’s church would you have them gather at to pray? Yours? Mine? All at our own churches so we don’t cross contaminate? This is a movement for students by students held were students are, schools.
Come on! Matthew 5:13-16! We’re not called to sit in our churches in “Holy Huddles”! Don’t let Satan Whew it out!
I think it was Louis Palau who said something like… If you just leave manure in a pile it just sits and stinks. It’s when it’s spread around that it becomes effective fertilizer.

OF course I will be there!!! Proudly
