Boy and Girls: the Mystery of Ministering to Both Genders (Heather Flies)

At some point in life, we all learned a fundamental truth:  Boys and girls are different.  Whether we have truly been able to understand and apply this truth in our personal lives is up for debate, but honoring this truth in youth ministry is essential!  How do we keep the boys engaged while teaching?  Is it possible to play games that get girls off the sidelines?  How in the world do I genuinely counsel a student of the opposite gender?  What do I do when the majority of my group is one gender?  With humor and honesty, we'll tackle these questions and more during our session together.

The B-I-B-L-E: Helping students read, study, love, and crave God's Word (Crystal Kirgiss)

In a world of sound-bite scripture quotes and fill-in-the-blank sermon notes, too many of our students - and maybe even too many of us - have either a long-distance (checking in now and then for updates) or a drive-through (zipping in and out for a quick snack) relationship with God's Word. Underlying the important rediscovered practices of engaged story-telling and meditative contemplation lie the fundamental practices of careful reading and intentional study. During our time together, we'll jump right in and practice both, in a way that won't feel like HS English class.
